ABB has developed a new compact 72.5 kV switchgear assembly with circuit breaker, instrument transformers, surge arresters and earthing switches on a common frame.
The new module can be equipped with different HV apparatus depending on type of bay and form a complete bay after connection to the busbar. The apparatuses are mounted on a solid frame and saves space up to 25 % comparing to a conventional switchyard.
The circuit breaker is the well-known LTB Combined with MotorDrive as operating mechanism. The disconnecting function is integrated in the breaking chamber and the circuit breaker is equipped with earthing swicthes for maximal safety. The module is also equipped with both IMB current transformer and CPA capacitive voltage transformer. For protection of overvoltages are PEXLIM surge arresters used.
